Jill R. Kickul is the Richard A. Forsythe Chair in Entrepreneurship in the Thomas C. Page Center for Entrepreneurship at Miami University (Ohio) and
Professor in the Management Department in the Richard T. Farmer School of Business. Prior to joining the faculty of Miami University, she was the Elizabeth J. McCandless Professor in Entrepreneurship at the Simmons School of Management.

She has taught courses on Entrepreneurship Strategy, Entrepreneurship and New Venture Management, Management of Fast-Growing Firms, Strategic Analysis for Competing Globally, and Management Strategy. She has also taught entrepreneurship internationally for the Helsinki School of Economics and for the International Bank of Asia (Hong Kong MBA Program), and she has delivered research seminars at the Stockholm School of Economics, EM Lyon School of Business, and the Jönköping International Business School.

Dr. Kickul’s book with Lisa Gundry, Entrepreneurship Strategy: Changing Patterns in New Venture Creation, Growth, and Reinvention was recently released in August 2006 (Sage Publishing). On the research front, her interests include entrepreneurial intentions and behavior, strategic and innovation processes in start-up ventures, and, most recently, women in entrepreneurship. She was awarded the Cason Hall & Company Publishers Best Paper Award, Michael J. Driver Best Careers Paper, the Coleman Foundation Best Empirical Paper and the John Jack Award for Entrepreneurship Education. She has many publications in entrepreneurship and management journals, including Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Management, Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Frontiers of Entrepreneurship Research, International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior and Research, Journal of Business Ethics, Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, and Academy of Management Learning and Education Journal.

Finally, her work on entrepreneurship education development and curriculum design of the Simmons Certificate in Entrepreneurship has been nationally recognized and supported through the Coleman Foundation Entrepreneurship Excellence in Teaching Colleges Grant and has been named by Fortune Small Business as one of the Top 10 Innovative Programs in Entrepreneurship Education.


 

Dr. Heinz Klandt - Conference Director
President of the Foerderkreis Gruendungs-Forschung e.V. and KfW-Endowed Chair for Entrepreneurship at EUROPEAN BUSINESS SCHOOL, International University, Germany

Positions/functions held:
Heinz Klandt is holder of the first German chair for Entrepreneurship at the EUROPEAN BUSINESS SCHOOL, International University, Schloss Reichartshausen in Oestrich-Winkel/Germany (www.ebs.de). The “KfW Endowed Chair for Entrepreneurship” was initiated in 1997 by the Minister for Economics and is financed for 10 years by the KfW (a bank owned by the Federal Republic of Germany). He is director of the bifego entrepreneurship research institute (www.bifego.de) and president of the FGF (Foerderkreis Gruendungs-Forschung: www.FGF-eV.de), both nonprofit organizations, and Country Vice President Germany of the ECSB (European Council for Small Business www.ecsb.org).
In 1991/92 he started and is continuously serving as director of the yearly IntEnt Internationalizing Entrepreneurship and Training Conference (www.intent-conference.de). In 1997 he also initiated the leading German speaking G-Forum Entrepreneurship Research Conference (www.G-Forum.de) and the corresponding web-based information platform for academic research and education.
Dr. Klandt serves as member of the faculty of the "European Doctoral Programme in Entrepreneurship and Small Business" (Barcelona/Spain), and as visiting faculty of the Vlerik Leuven Gent Management School, Belgium. He is member of the advisory/editorial board of International Small Business Journal, Journal of Management Systems, International Journal of Business, Management and Economics, and associate editor of Journal of Asia Entrepreneurship and Sustainability. He serves also as co-editor of the FGF Entrepreneurship Monographs (more than 60 volumes in English and German: www.eulverlag.de ) and the yearly Jahrbuch für Entrepreneurship (3 volumes, www.springer.com ).

Academic background , activities, and interests:
He studied business and social psychology at the University of Cologne ("Dipl.-Kfm." in 1974) and wrote his Ph.D.-thesis there about entrepreneurial success factors (Dr. rer. pol. in 1984). He worked as research assistant, lecturer, trainer, consultant and founded the START ltd., Dortmund - a market research company - in 1986 (www.START-institut.de ). He was a professor for empirical research methods at the University of Dortmund (1990-1998).

Dr. Klandt developed a computer based business game "EVa" simulating the start-up and early development phase of a company practiced internationally (some 10,00 lines of code, available in German and English) which is used in some 200 events with more than 3.000 people.
He authored, co-authored and edited in German and English more than 30 books and over 50 articles mostly in the field of business start-ups and entrepreneurship.
